Note on Marriage
Their marriage license was issued in Knox Co, IL on 27 August 1851. Embly Mount made oath that he was 21 years of age and Elizabeth Axtell was 18 years of age. They were married by Evan Mackinson, Minister of God, who filed the license on 29 August 1851. [John Robb.GED.FTW]1

Emley Mount is the name on the marriage certificate of Embly and Elizabeth.
He is found in the 1850 Illinois census, Knox Co., Cedar township. He is called Emily and female, age 21, born in OH.
He is found in the 1860 Illinois census, Knox Co., Galesburg Twp. He is called Emily, is age 32 and a farmer worth $3000 in taxable real estate and $600 in personal property.
He is found in the 1870 Illinois census, Knox Co., Ontario township, he is 42 and a farmer. He has Isaac Schwartz, age 17 from PA and John Weir age 18 from PA working on the farm with him.
He is listed on the 1880 census as being age 50 and being a farmer whose parents were born in Maryland. He was married to Elizabeth and had 5 children and one grandchild. All the children and the grandchild had been born in Illinois. Knox Co. Atlas says that he came from Warren Co., OH. On 23 October 1865 Embly and Elizabeth purchased a quarter section of land from E .J. Hammond, this was the filing date of the deed. It was the southeast quarter of section 17 in Twp 13 north, range two County containing 160 acres or less. This was in the town of Ontario, Knox Co., IL. He sold the land on 14 December 1882 to William M. Simms for $10,462.50, quite a sum of money in those days.
Embly Mount is found in the M.A. Brown & County.'s Classified Directory of Farmers for Liberty Twp in Gage Co., 1886-7.
Embly is found in the 1900 NE census in Gage Co., Liberty Twp. He is age 70 and has been married for 48 years. He is a retired farmer who owns his farm.
He died in Gage Co., NE of chronic endocarditis. His death certificate was signed by CP Proudfoot M.D. of Liberty. Ralph Mount was the informant and he was also living in Liberty. He was 80 years, ten months and 19 days old. [John Robb.GED.FTW]1
Note on Wife: Elizabeth AXTELL
An Axtell/Mount family history says that her father was really Nathan and that her mother died young and an aunt raised her until she went to Illinois to live with her uncle Thomas. This is unlikely since her uncle Nathan was only 11 when she was born according to Axtell sources and family dates. It is Elizabeth's mother Sarah who died young and she may have lived away from the family when she was young, her mother was also an Axtell by heritage.
Elizabeth is found in the 1850 Illinois census, Knox Co., Cedar Twp. She is age 20 and born in PA. She is with Thomas and her stepmother, Mary.
She is found in the 1860 Illinois census, Knox Co., Galesburg Twp. She is age 31.
She is found in the 1870 Illinois census, Knox Co., Ontario township, age 41 and born in PA.
She is found in the 1900 NE census living with Embly, it says that she is 78 and was born in 1821. She is literate.
She died at 79 years, 8 months and 21 days in Beaver City, Furnas Co. where her daughter Alice lived. However, E.I. Moore was the informant. She died of chronic Bright's Disease according to the physician. FA Brewster of Beaver City. She died two months after her husband died.
Her obituary was in the Beaver City Times Tribune on 24 September 1909. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Moore . She had come to Beaver City after Embly died two weeks previous. Services were held at the Moores, the Reverend L.F. Powell officiated. She was born in PA and moved to Warren County, IL as a girl. She and Embly moved to Gage Co., Nebraska in 1883. She was raised as a Methodist and belonged to that church all her life. She was survived by Alice Richards, Ida Moore both of Beaver City, Mrs. Edwin Edwards of Cambridge and Mrs Eva Adams and Ralph Mount of Liberty.
