Note on Marriage

Marriage indicies show Sarah Astell and William Bates marrying in Q3 1839. Since it's in St Albans it more than likely that the Astell has been misheard/misspelt from Axtell. So though the surname is wrong, it

should be a definite match.

Details from Debbie Penny via genesreunited.co.uk contact made via a Sarah Axtell in Redbourn [Jon Axtell]

 

New information from parish register shows William's father to be James, not William. William's [2171] (22Jun1783-?) details were provided by Debbie Penny. William [2171] and Sarah's [1959] family have been disconnected but kept on file. This William's details have been reset back to information from marriage to Sarah Axtell. [Jon Axtell]

DEATH: 1902 is not confirmed as her death. The birth date is about right, but the location hasn't been confirmed as correct.

 

CENSUS: 1851 Census: Shown as married to Bates, though William her husband is not listed, only her children Willam and Ann and staying with Sarah's parents Francis & Sarah.
